Kingscliff area profile

Just south of the Gold Coast border and 15 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport lies the quaint town of Kingscliff, known for its beach town charm, bustling beachfront precinct offering numerous cafes, pubs, SLSC and retailers. Music lovers will know this as the home of the 1980s band members, The Sunnyboys.

Whilst historically known as a great holiday destination, from the ever-popular caravan park to up market holiday homes, Kingscliff is quickly “growing up”. As some of the older cottages are updated and remodelled, the area is quickly evolving into a more “beach chic” location, often compared to the likes of Noosa Heads.

Farmers and night markets are local’s favourites, and the town plays host to numerous local and international surfing and lifesaving events. Weekend mornings see the beachfront cafes swell with locals, often returning from walks, ocean swims and bike rides, signalling the start of another relaxing day.

Kingscliff’s hills and terrain offer a variety of potential views, with homes benefitting from both southerly and northerly perspectives, depending on location.

Occupying 9 square kilometres, with a population of 7,464+ (2016 census), Kingscliff offers a strong commercial presence in the area, including solicitors, architects, library, banks, ambulance/emergency services, medical centres, and TAFE.

Included in the Kingscliff town area is the “Salt Village” community, located on its southern border. Like Casuarina, Salt is a newer development established around 2005, and the two communities are linked by a bike path along the beachfront, which continues all the way into Kingscliff - a well tracked walk for residents! Salt has been a popular relocation target for inter-state buyers, and has seen innovative, architecturally designed homes built throughout the community. With the new influx of buyers, Salt’s friendly streets have filled with younger families – look out when driving around for kids on bikes and skateboards!

Salt Beach is a 1.2km stretch of pristine and uncrowded beach which is patrolled during spring and summer. Great for beach walks, fishing, surfing, or just “chillaxing”. Salt Central Park, is the gathering area residents and visitors, and is situated between Peppers Salt Resort & Spa and Mantra on Salt Beach Central Park. The retail strip includes numerous restaurants, coffee shops and retail stores.

Just south of Salt lies Casuarina. With a resident population of over 1660+ people (2015 census), young families and retirees were the initial residents. However, in the last few years, professionals have realised that the 15-minute drive to the Gold Coast Airport, and proximity to Gold Coast commercial precincts, makes Casuarina a great location that combines work and lifestyle.

A recently completed multi-million dollar neighbourhood centre retail hub includes a Coles supermarket, along with 12 specialty stores and parking for 237 vehicles. Casuarina is also home to Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre, where many of Australia’s elite surfers undergo state of the art physical training and coaching. Adjacent to the centre is the Rec Club Rock Fitness Centre, a popular gym featuring swimming, boxing, yoga, pilates and weight training facilities, personal training and classes. Casuarina is active!
